Wave Dispersion Technologies Addresses FY 2006 Port Security Grants for Buffer Zone Protection Program
Summit, NJ –July 18, 2006 - Wave Dispersion Technologies (WDT) http://www.whisprwave.com, a global leader in maritime security, reports on recent developments in port security relating to current FY 2006 Port Security Grants for prevention and detection against improvised explosive devices (IEDs). The FY 2006 Port Security Grants totalling $168mm were announced on July 6 and are scheduled to close on August 4. Wave Dispersion Technologies (WDT) Small Craft Intrusion Barriers™ offer a proven solution to addressing IED’s delivered via small craft.
The company currently has contracts with several US and foreign ports for its patented floating water security barrier technology. In addition WDT has developed and is continuing to develop several product variations with applications for both port security, wave attenuation and beach erosion.
The Grants, under “Homeland Security – Preparedness Port Security Grant Program for Critical National Seaports” represent new potential business for WDT. Dennis G Smith CEO stated, "The Ports of Los Angeles, Long Beach, and Tampa were awarded funding in prior grant rounds for the installation of Small Craft Intrusion Barriers™ (SCIB™) and selected the WhisprWave® SCIB™ as part of their buffer zone protection plan. Given the preference noted in the grant description for IED's delivered via small craft and our success with previous grants, we want to alert the port security community that we are available to help support, with actual installation experience, any port currently applying for a FY 2006 Port Security Grant."
Further details on the grants are discussed on the Port Security, Maritime Security, and Homeland Security Blog: http://www.whisprwave.com/2006/07/fy-2006-infrastructure-protection.html - The Global Leader in Maritime Homeland Port Security Barrier & Buoy Protection Systems
