The WhisprWave® is being prepared for installation as a maritime bridge piling fender system in an environmentally sensitive area where a traditional piling / pier fender system is not practicable. Recent tests of the WhisprWave® modules at Westmoreland Mechanical Testing & Research, Inc. proved that the modules are capable of withstanding forces in excess of 400,000 lbs. (See test results). This test was the final step necessary before the device can actually be implemented as a bridge fender system.

What is a bridge fender system?
Bridge fender systems are used to help guide vessels through navigational channels under bridges, while helping to protect the integrity of bridge pier system. Traditional fender systems are made up of heavy wooden timbers lashed and/or bolted together along with lights and other aids to navigation.

Vessel Exclusion Barrier™ ("VEB™")
To protect security zones from large vessels, the company developed the VEB™, an augmented version of the SCIB™ with additional WhisprWave® modules. The VEB™ has sufficient strength to withstand 1,500,000 foot pounds of energy over a 1.5 second period, capable of completely stopping 30-foot vessels traveling at 40 miles per hour (35 knots) and significantly impeding larger vessels.
