United Arab Emirates (UAE)
In March 2009, WDT signed a purchase order to deliver the SCIB system to the federal emirate of Abu Dhabi, a political subdivision of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Since signing a defense pact with the U.S. in 1994, the UAE has become an increasingly close partner of the U.S. in the global war on terror, allowing U.S. forces to operate out of locations such as Al Dhafra air base and the ports at Jebel Ali and Fujairah. In the annual “Country Reports on Terrorism” from 2004, the U.S. State Department affirmed that “the UAE continued to provide staunch assistance and cooperation against terrorism” and that “the UAE Central Bank continued to enforce anti-money laundering regulations aggressively.”
WDT’s sale to the UAE Critical National Infrastructure Agency is a manifestation of the close relationship between the UAE and the U.S. in the area of anti-terrorism.
WDT’s initial pilot system delivery will be for a critical maritime infrastructure site in Abu Dhabi. Additional sites are scheduled for rollout throughout the UAE.
