Air
Force Aid Society
The AIR FORCE AID SOCIETY (AFAS) is the official charity of the U.S. Air
Force. It promotes the Air Force mission by helping "to relieve distress
of Air Force members and their families and assisting them to finance
their education". It is rooted in the original Army Air Corps and
the World War II Army Air Forces, whose members wanted to "take care
of their own." Through the years, AFAS has become increasingly effective
in helping individuals with personal emergencies-- as well as extremely
useful when used by commanders to help solve personnel problems in their
units. The American
Legion The American Legion was chartered by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic,
mutual-help, war-time veterans organization. A community-service organization
which now numbers nearly 3 million members -- men and women -- in nearly
15,000 American Legion Posts worldwide. These Posts are organized into
55 Departments -- one each for the 50 states, the District of Columbia,
Puerto Rico, France, Mexico, and the Philippines.
The American Legion's national headquarters
is in Indianapolis,Indiana, with additional offices in Washington, DC.
In addition to thousands of volunteers serving inl eadership and program
implementation capacities in local communities to the Legion's standing
national commissions and committees, the national organization has a regular
full-time staff of about 300 employees
Armed
Forces Relief Trust
The mission of the Armed Forces Relief Trust is to assist the military
aid societies by providing a single vehicle to accept donations that will
benefit the men and women of our Armed Forces and their families. Examples
of such assistance may include payment for a soldier's airfare to fly
home for his father's funeral, a special reading program for a sailor's
daughter, special medical attention for a pilot's expectant spouse, or
college tuition for a soldier's child.
Armed Services Blood Program
To provide quality blood products, blood substitutes, and services for
all worldwide customers in peace and war. To be a preeminent quality,
cost effective blood system providing blood products, blood substitutes,
and services wherever and whenever needed.
Armed Services YMCA
The YMCA has provided educational, recreational, social and religious
support to the military since 1861 and continues that effort with the
Defense Department through the Armed Services YMCA headquarters in Alexandria,
Virginia.
Army Community Service ACS will assist commanders in maintaining readiness of individuals,
families, and communities within America's Army by developing, coordinating,
and delivering services which promote self-reliance, resiliency, and stability
during war and peace
Army Emergency Relief AER is a private nonprofit organization incorporated in 1942 by the
Secretary of War and the Army Chief of Staff. AER's sole mission is to
help soldiers and their dependents.
Blue Star Mothers of America, Inc.
We are mothers who have or have had children serving in the military
Carolina Troop Supporters The Carolina Troop Supporters not only support American soldiers while
they are serving overseas, but we also show our great appreciation to
returning servicemen and women with our special Welcome Home events.
Coast Guard Mutual Assistance Coast Guard Mutual Assistance is an independent, non-profit, charitable
organization, providing financial assistance to the entire Coast Guard
"family." While sponsored by the U. S. Coast Guard, Coast Guard
Mutual Assistance does not receive federal funds. Coast Guard Mutual Assistance
is funded solely from contributions and returns on investments. Coast
Guard Mutual Assistance is a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3)
of the Internal Revenue Code, contributions to Coast Guard Mutual Assistance
are deductible for income and estate tax purposes.

Fisher House Foundation The Fisher House program is a unique private-public partnership that
supports America's military in their time of need. The program recognizes
the special sacrifices of our men and women in uniform and the hardships
of military service by meeting a humanitarian need beyond that normally
provided by the Department of Defense. These homes enable family members
to be close to a loved one at the most stressful time -- during the hospitalization
for an unexpected illness, disease, or injury.
Gifts From the Homefront Send a "Gifts from the HomeFront" gift certificate to an
individual military family member, friend or loved one. They can use it
at any military exchange (AAFES, NEX, MCX, Coast Guard Exchange) retail
store around the world including those supporting Operation Enduring Freedom
and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Homes for Our Troops, Inc. We are a non profit organization committed to helping our troops and
their families. As a volunteer staff, we are working to raise money to
build specially adapted homes for soldiers who become disabled. Currently
we are working to put the first of what we hope to be many projects together
for severely wounded soldiers. Sgt. Peter Damon, a soldier from Brockton,
MA who was injured in Iraq, and lost both of his arms has joined with
us, so that we can offer help to other soldiers Across AMERICA.
Marines Corps Community Services MCCS exists to serve Marines and their families wherever they are
stationed. Every day, throughout their careers and into retirement, MCCS
programs and services provide for basic life needs, such as food and clothing;
social and recreational needs; and even prevention and intervention programs
to combat societal ills that inhibit positive development and growth.
Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation The Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation is a non-profit, tax exempt
corporation of volunteer men and women dedicated to providing financial
assistance in the form of scholarships for higher education to deserving
sons and daughters of United States Marines and children of former Marines,
with particular attention being given to children whose parent was killed
or wounded in action.

and care for

| Navy The Department of Defense announced today that any American can now
help troops in contingency operations call home. The Defense Department
has authorized the Armed Services Exchanges to sell prepaid calling cards
to any individual or organization that wishes to purchase cards for troops
who are deployed. The “Help Our Troops Call Home” program
is designed to help servicemembers call home from Operations Iraqi Freedom
and Operation Enduring Freedom.

National Military Family Association The National Military Family Association is a non-profit, predominately
volunteer organization with membership from the seven uniformed services,
active duty, National Guard, reserves and retired, their families and
survivors, as well as interested civilians. NMFA is the only national
organization whose sole focus is the military family and whose mission
is to serve those families through education, information and advocacy.
Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society
Founded in 1904, the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society is a private non-profit
charitable organization. It is sponsored by the Department of the Navy
and operates nearly 250 offices ashore and afloat at Navy and Marine Corps
bases throughout the world. The Society was incorporated in the District
of Columbia and has its headquarters in Arlington, Virginia. It is managed
by a Board of Directors whose members are active duty or retired members
of the Naval Services, or spouses of active duty or retired members of
the Naval Services.
Operation Hero Miles
The Operation Hero Miles program was started by Congressman C.A. Dutch
Ruppersberger (D-MD). The program provides a way to help troops stationed
in Iraq and Afghanistan by donating unused frequent flyer miles. Congressman
C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger is pleased to announce that airlines and travelers
all across the United States have donated more than 514 million frequent
flyer
miles to Operation Hero Miles. The program has brought an outpouring of
support for troops from all across the country.
Operation Noble Foster Hundreds of requests for the fostering of pets have come in from members
of our armed forces, National Guard and Reservists, that are being called
to active duty as a result of the War on Terror, including the deployments
in Afghanistan and Iraq. Just as during Desert Storm, many animal shelters
and rescues reported markedly increased numbers due to the call up.
Red Cross - Military Members & Families Today's American Red Cross is keeping pace with the changing military.
Using the latest in computer and telecommunications technology, the Red
Cross allows military members stationed all over the world to send messages
to loved ones back home during an emergency or other important events.
These communications are delivered around-the-clock, seven days a week,
365 days a year.
Spirit of America
Working closely with the United States Marines, the Spirit of America
finds real needs of real people and fills them; quickly, efficiently,
and without bureaucratic log jams. By matching money and material directly
to specific programs, the Spirit of America has proven itself to be the
leader in direct action that makes a difference on the ground and in peoples'
lives in Iraq. Right now. Today.
Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors The Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors, Inc. (TAPS) provides
a wide variety of programs and information to survivors, military and
casualty personnel and others. TAPS is a national non-profit organization
made up of, and providing services to, all those who have lost a loved
one while serving in the Armed Forces. The heart of TAPS is our national
military survivor peer support network. We also offer grief counseling
referral, case worker assistance and crisis information, all available
to help families and survivors cope and recover. We provide these services

USA Cares
USA Cares exists to help servicemembers and their families deployed across
America and around the globe. USA Cares provides support with relevant
and direct assistance that improves challenging situations and betters

USA Freedom Corps While hundreds of thousands of men and women from all over America
are serving in the armed forces and away from their homes, those on the
homefront can be making a difference too. Many individuals
and organizations are looking for ways to support our troops, their families,
and our country.

USA Freedom Corps is offering resources to Americans who want to express

USO The USO (United Service Organizations)
is chartered by Congress as a nonprofit, charitable corporation. It is
not a part of the U.S. Government. The USO is endorsed by the President
of the United States and the Department of Defense. Each President has
been the Honorary Chairman of the USO since its inception.
The USO mission is to provide morale,
welfare and recreation-type services to uniformed military personnel.
The original intent of Congress—and enduring style of USO delivery—is
to represent the American people by extending a touch of home to the military.
Thus, although some USO programs/services are similar to those provided
by other agencies, the hallmark of the USO has been and will continue
to be HOW--as much as WHAT--services are provided.
